Why Your Face Wants CBD Bio Skin Care’s Collagen Anti-Aging Cream

August 12, 2018

CBD Bio Skin Care is one of the latest new companies emerging in Cannabis Beauty. They offer a variety of skin therapy treatments, and I received the opportunity to test and review their Collagen Retinol Anti-Aging Cream with Pure Hemp CBD Oil.

For two weeks I followed their advised regimen of applying 2-3x each day with promises to reduce fine lines, reduce the visibility of pores, enhance skin elasticity, while hydrating, brightening and firming my skin. On the eve of another birthday, this is exactly what I needed!

Here’s what I knew already from my own research:

  • Collagen improves elasticity, helping your skin look radiant and fresh. I have already been taking collagen supplements for years, but as far as I knew I hadn’t ever tried a topical application. This would be my first!

  • Vitamin C is— in the beauty industry— collagen’s bestie, working hand in hand to improve elasticity while creating and maintaining collagen within your skin. It is an antioxidant, improving the barrier function of the skin, and preventing dehydration.

  • Pure Hemp CBD Oil is an anti-inflammatory, soothing the skin and reducing redness, and may be helpful for eczema and psoriasis. It has some antimicrobial benefits, meaning it fights bacteria and other pathogens, which prevents infection. Because Pure Hemp CBD Oil also works as an antioxidant within the body, there are possible anti-aging benefits that extend beyond the surface of your skin.

Hemp-derived CBD Oil is different from the cannabinoid extract of the flowering plant, in that there is no THC (the psychoactive properties that make you feel grooovy).

CBD Bio Skin Care uses 6mg of Pure Hemp CBD Oil in their Collagen Anti-Aging Cream.

  • Retinol, or Vitamin A, is a veteran of the beauty industry, used to reduce fine lines and discoloration in the skin (of which I have a lot of). There are serious warnings about Retinol that should be considered, such as severe sensitivity to the sun— in the worst case scenarios, sun exposure can cause redness and peeling.

However, Retinol is not a chemical peel. Retinol is not to be confused with Retinoids, which are Prescription Strength Only.

CBD Bio Skin Care's Anti-Aging Cream only contains 1% Retinol, so the possibility of irritation is rare. It should go without saying, but if any irritation does occur when using any product, you should stop using it immediately. Always do a skin test!

So, after the skin test on my forearm passed with only the results of moisturized skin, I went ahead and applied the lotion to my face two-three times each day for the next two weeks.

During this time I refrained from using other skin creams. I didn’t wear much make-up, and I avoided the sun as best as possible— even in LA’s summer heat! When I did make it to the beach, or out for a run, I wore a hat and applied sunblock to my face.

Actual notes from my two weeks using CBD Bio Skin Care’s Collagen Anti-Aging Cream:

After 1 Week:

One week into use, I have noticed very little change in my skin, which I consider a great sign! If anything, my skin appears brighter, maybe less red. No breakouts, even during this week leading up to my monthly cycle (the moon forever my guide). The texture is smooth, supple. Pores are still visible (that may never change).

I have not felt the need to supplement this lotion with other face lotions, meaning that it actually moisturizes sufficiently! I have not had any reactions from exposure to the sun, but I have worn sunblock during prolonged exposure, and avoided putting the CBD/Retinol lotion on immediately before heading out doors, just to be safe.

The lotion is not scented.

After 2 Weeks:

My skin is in similar condition to before I began treatment, although it also feels moisturized and dewy. My skin does appear brighter and less inflamed. Pores remain, but are perhaps clearer— my skin still has some pinkness (which I actually think is youthful!). Only downside is that I’m already nearly out of product, at $45 per 0.5 oz.

The most significant thing I notice is that over the course of these last two weeks, I did not have any bad reactions, nor any breakouts. I typically experience a mild fluctuation of breakouts throughout any given week, but during the use of this product, my skin remained consistently smooth.

I consider myself to have fairly sensitive skin, and I like the results from the Collagen Retinol Cream. It has been very moisturizing, without feeling heavy or greasy— my skin seems happy to absorb it!
